Control official who rose through Rabkrin and the Commission of Soviet Control to acting chairman, and was shot
A Bolshevik from 1905, after the revolution he sat on the executive of the Petrograd trade union council and chaired the Petrograd labour exchange, then served as the trade union council's plenipotentiary in the Urals and Siberia, on the collegium of the RSFSR People's Commissariat of Labour, and as head of its South-Eastern bureau. He joined the collegium of the USSR Workers' and Peasants' Inspection in 1928 and was deputy People's Commissar and a member of the Presidium of the Central Control Commission in 1931–1934. From 1934 he was deputy and then first deputy chairman of the Commission of Soviet Control, and its acting chairman in 1938–1939. Arrested in June 1939, he was sentenced by the Military Collegium of the USSR Supreme Court on 1 February 1940 and shot the same day; he was rehabilitated in 1956.
