Italian Syndicalist Union
이탈리아 생디칼리스트 연합
An Italian revolutionary and anarcho-syndicalist trade union, established in 1912 by a confederation of houses of labour in opposition to the reformist General Confederation of Labour (CGL). It was suppressed by the Fascist regime in 1925.
In depth
Its founding congress at Modena in November 1912 brought together some 80,000 to 100,000 members, and in Milan Filippo Corridoni led its organisation. It led a series of general strikes culminating in the Red Week insurrection of 1914. In September 1914 interventionists such as Alceste De Ambris, Corridoni and Michele Bianchi split from it and later joined Fascism. The remaining union was at the forefront of the factory occupations of the Biennio Rosso and led the founding of the anarcho-syndicalist International Workers’ Association. Under Fascism its members were arrested, driven underground or forced into exile; the union was reconstituted in the late 20th century.
