Soviet Boycott of the UN Security Council (1950)

소련의 유엔 안전보장이사회 보이콧 (1950년)

From 13 January to 1 August 1950, the Soviet Union boycotted the UN Security Council over the dispute concerning China's representation. The USSR demanded that the People's Republic of China replace the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Security Council; when the motion failed, Soviet ambassador Yakov Malik walked out and declared the boycott. During this absence, the Security Council passed Resolutions 82 through 85 on Korea without a Soviet veto, authorising a UN military response to the Korean War.
