Party official who led the Vologda and Saratov regional committees and then served as acting chairman of the Party Control Committee
Born in Solnechnaya Gora, Moscow Governorate, he fought in the Civil War and joined the Russian Communist Party in 1920. After chairing Moscow district soviets, running the city's housing repair and water supply and preparing the opening of the Metro, he was sent to Vologda in 1937 and served as first secretary of the Vologda regional committee (1938–1942) and of the Saratov regional committee (1942–1948). After a spell as USSR Deputy Minister of Procurement (1951–1952) he was deputy chairman of the Party Control Committee from 1952 to 1959, and acting chairman after Shkiryatov's death, 1954–1956. He was a candidate member of the Central Committee from 1939 to 1961 and retired in 1959.
