Economic reform became connected with the political and social opening of the Prague Spring in 1968. Reformers did not share a single marketization program; enterprise autonomy, worker participation and central planning remained contested.
Warsaw Pact intervention and subsequent normalization restricted reform. Proposals, implemented measures and later reversals must be distinguished rather than treating the Prague Spring as one economic model.
