Hitler Youth
히틀러 청소년단
The youth wing of the Nazi Party. It took the name Hitler Youth in July 1926 and from 1936 to 1945 was the sole official boys’ youth organisation in Germany and partly a paramilitary body.
In depth
It consisted of the Hitler Youth proper for boys aged 14 to 18, the German Youngsters for those aged 10 to 13, and the League of German Girls. After Baldur von Schirach became Reich Youth Leader in 1933 it absorbed all other youth organisations; a 1936 law made it the state youth organisation and membership became compulsory in 1939. Members received racial indoctrination and military training, and at the end of the war they were mobilised as anti-aircraft auxiliaries and in the street fighting for Berlin. The Allied Control Council banned it in October 1945.
