League of the Just
의인동맹 (1836–1847)
The secret revolutionary organisation founded in Paris in 1836 by German émigré journeymen who broke away from the League of Outlaws. Led by Wilhelm Weitling, Karl Schapper, Joseph Moll and others under the motto "All men are brothers", it aimed at a society without private property. In June 1847 it merged with the Communist Correspondence Committee of Marx and Engels to form the Communist League.
In depth
Its members were mainly German journeymen such as tailors and woodworkers. After taking part in the Blanquist revolt of 12 May 1839 it was expelled from France and moved to London, where in 1840 it founded the German Workers' Educational Society and grew to over 1,000 members. In 1845 Weitling, who called for an immediate rising, clashed with Schapper, who after the experience of 1839 urged a long campaign of popular education. In January 1847 Moll persuaded Marx in Brussels to join.
