National Convention

국민공회

The assembly that succeeded the Legislative Assembly during the French Revolution, abolished monarchy and shaped republican institutions and wartime government.

In depth

The National Constituent Assembly, Legislative Assembly and National Convention belonged to different phases. The Convention itself experienced factional conflict and changing power relations. Its decisions cannot all be read as the programme of one unchanging faction.
