Stalin Prize

스탈린상

The highest civilian award of the Soviet Union, established in 1939 for Stalin's 60th birthday and first conferred in 1941. It recognized outstanding achievements in science, technology, military knowledge, literature, and the arts at three monetary grades: Stalin personally oversaw the selection of laureates. Abolished in 1956 during de-Stalinization and replaced by the Lenin Prize and later the USSR State Prize; former laureates could exchange their diplomas and badges for the new award.
