Völkisch-Social Bloc
민족사회 블록
The name used in 1924 by several far-right electoral alliances in German states, formed with leading participation of Nazi politicians after the Nazi Party was banned following the Beer Hall Putsch. Its influential Bavarian branch ran as the “Völkischer Block in Bayern”.
In depth
It cannot be seen as a mere replacement for the banned Nazi Party: many members came from other, older völkisch organisations and their positions were not always identical to the Nazis’. In the 1924 Bavarian Landtag election Anton Drexler, Gregor Strasser and Julius Streicher were among those elected for it. In the course of 1924 the state organisations merged with the German Völkisch Freedom Party into the short-lived National Socialist Freedom Party (Movement), and they dispersed when the Nazi Party was re-founded in 1925.
