Rabocheye Delo and "Economism"
Rabocheye Delo was the organ of the Union of Russian Social Democrats Abroad; printed in Geneva and edited in Paris, it ran to twelve issues between April 1899 and February 1902. Krichevsky edited it with Pavel Teplov, Vladimir Ivanshin and, from 1900, Alexander Martynov, and the editorial board was the centre of the "Economists".
"Economism" held that the working class, rather than putting forward its own political programme in the coming revolution, should concentrate on the economic struggle and support the political programme of the liberals against tsarism. Its leaders are listed as Krichevsky together with Yekaterina Kuskova, Martynov, Sergei Prokopovich and others. The name index to Lenin's Collected Works records that Krichevsky used the pages of Rabocheye Delo to spread Bernsteinian views. He drifted away from the social democratic movement soon after the Second Congress.
