Viking League
바이킹 동맹
A right-wing paramilitary and political organisation of the Weimar Republic, founded in Munich on 2 May 1923 by members of the banned Organisation Consul as its successor. Led by Hermann Ehrhardt, it advocated the violent overthrow of the republic in favour of a military dictatorship.
In depth
At its height it claimed 10,000 members. Ehrhardt kept his distance from Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch of 1923. When plans to overthrow the republic were exposed in May 1926, the league was banned in Prussia, by far the largest German state, and after its influence declined Ehrhardt dissolved it in April 1928.
