Law of 22 Prairial

프레리알 22일법

A law enacted on 22 Prairial Year II that altered the Revolutionary Tribunal’s procedures and penalties.

In depth

It restricted opportunities for witness examination and defence and accelerated proceedings. It was distinct from the 1793 Law of Suspects governing categories of suspicion and detention. Wartime explanations must be considered alongside the reduction of defendants’ procedural protections.
