Paris Agreements (1954)
파리 협정 (1954)
A set of agreements signed in Paris on 23 October 1954 by the Western powers, providing for the end of the occupation regime in West Germany, the restoration of its sovereignty, limited rearmament, and its admission to NATO. Concluded as some twelve instruments that also created the Western European Union and brought West Germany and Italy into the Brussels Treaty, they entered into force in May 1955. The USSR and the GDR condemned the accords as blocking German reunification and cementing the military division of Europe, which became the immediate spur for founding the Warsaw Pact.
