Russian Social Democratic Labour Party

The party founded at Minsk in 1898 to unite the Marxist organizations of the Russian Empire. Its first congress was immediately repressed but left a party name and manifesto; at the second congress in 1903 it divided into Bolshevik and Menshevik wings. The Bolshevik organization renamed itself the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) in 1918.
