소련 우크라이나 키예프주에 1970년 체르노빌 원자력발전소 노동자의 주거도시로 건설된 계획도시로, 1986년 4월 26일 체르노빌 참사 이후 36시간이 지난 4월 27일 약 5만 명 전 주민이 대피했다. 소련의 9번째 아토모그라드(원자력 도시)로서 '평화로운 원자'의 선전 모델이었으나, 사고 이후 체제 은폐의 상징이자 유령 도시로 남았다.
