Президиум ЦК КПСС · 1952–1966

Presidium of the CPSU Central Committee

주석단

The highest executive body of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union between 1952 and 1966, replacing the Politburo by decision of the 19th Party Congress. It decided all major political, economic, foreign-policy, and military questions between Central Committee plenums, and its membership was divided into full members (члены) and candidate members (кандидаты в члены). At its founding it comprised 25 full members and 11 candidate members; Stalin also created an unofficial inner nine-man Bureau (Бюро Президиума). The body reverted to the name Politburo at the 23rd Party Congress in 1966.
