Russian Provisional Government

러시아 임시정부

The transitional government that ruled Russia between the abdication of Nicholas II in the February Revolution and the convocation of the Constituent Assembly. It was formed through negotiations between the Provisional Committee of the State Duma and the Petrograd Soviet, headed first by Prince Georgy Lvov and later by Alexander Kerensky. From its inception it existed in a state of dual power with the Petrograd Soviet, and rapidly lost popular support by continuing the war, delaying land reform, and postponing elections to the Constituent Assembly. Its authority collapsed through the April Crisis, the failure of the June Offensive, the July Days, and the Kornilov affair, and it was overthrown by the Bolsheviks in the October Revolution.
