파슈투니스탄

Pashtunistan

아프가니스탄 남부·동부와 파키스탄 북서부에 걸친 파슈툰족 거주 지역을 가리키는 역사적·민족주의적 개념. 1893년 듀랜드 라인이 그어지면서 파슈툰 영토가 아프가니스탄과 영국령 인도(후일 파키스탄)로 분할되었고, 이후 파슈툰 민족주의자들은 양측 파슈툰 지역의 통일 또는 독립을 주장해 왔다. 1947년 분할 무렵 바차 칸과 후다이 키드마트가르 운동이 독립국 옵션을 요구했고, 1970년대에는 무함마드 다우드가 이 문제를 전면에 내세우면서 파키스탄이 아프간 이슬람주의 반군(훗날 무자헤딘)을 지원하는 역학이 형성되었다.
