A decree of the French National Convention imposing ceilings on prices of necessities and on wages, with enforcement provisions and penalties.

It was enacted amid war, rising prices and supply difficulties. Demands for affordable goods could conflict with limits on workers’ wages. Statutory rules and actual local implementation must be examined separately.
