주권 회복과 연합군 통치
프랑스 해방 과정에서 샤를 드골의 프랑스공화국 임시정부는 연합군 군정이 프랑스의 행정을 대체하는 것을 막고 공화국의 법적 연속성을 주장했다. 파리 해방 뒤 임시정부는 수도에 복귀해 행정 재건, 협력자 처벌, 선거와 헌정 질서의 재편을 추진했다. 동시에 연합군 최고사령부의 민사 업무와 프랑스 내 임무 조직은 군사 작전과 점령 행정의 경계를 보여준다.
전후 질서
프랑스는 해방된 국가이면서 연합국의 점령 및 통제 체계에 참여한 국가였다. 프랑스의 독일 점령 구역 확보와 국제적 지위 회복은 군사적 기여뿐 아니라 임시정부가 주권 국가로 승인받으려 한 결과였다.
