Military Revolutionary Committee

군사혁명위원회

Armed insurrection and provisional power organs created by the Bolsheviks under the soviets from October 1917 to March 1918. The first was established by the Petrograd Soviet on 25 October (12 October O.S.) 1917 on Trotsky's proposal; under the cover of defending the capital, it dispatched commissars to garrison units and functioned as the operational headquarters of the armed uprising. After the October insurrection, over forty MRCs were formed nationwide to lead the establishment of Soviet power, and they were dissolved as regular state organs such as the Sovnarkom took over.
