중층결정

Overdetermination

루이 알튀세르가 프로이트의 정신분석에서 차용하여 마르크스주의 정치이론에 도입한 개념으로, 사회구성체 내의 모든 모순이 단일한 경제적 토대로 환원되지 않고 정치·이데올로기·경제 등 여러 심급의 복합적 작용을 통해 결정됨을 뜻한다. 알튀세르는 1962년 논문 「모순과 중층결정」에서 이를 헤겔적 '표현적 총체성'과 대비시키며, 마르크스주의적 모순의 특수성은 바로 그 불균등한 중층결정에 있다고 주장했다.
